Photos from Activity Day Fun!

Last Friday, September 7, Upper School students left school to spend a day with their peers, be outside, and develop class cohesion. Each of the four classes embarked to a different location, some near and some far. Some climbed and some floated. Some roamed the woods and some made the newspaper. But regardless of where they went and what they did, students from each class had really positive responses to how they'd spent the day. In that spirit, we thought we'd share a quick summary and some pictures of what each did, after the jump. (Click the "read more" button)

"For Activity Day the 9th Grade went to the Challenge Course at the Harmony Hill School in Chepachet, RI.  In the morning the 9th graders worked in small groups on low ropes elements which tested their problem solving ability and allowed for great team building and class bonding.  In the afternoon the class moved to the high ropes course.  Students walked on logs 30 feet in the air, worked in pairs to climb a ladder of 4x4s and many swung in the air on the "Holy Cow Swing."  It was a tremendous day and the class was able to get to know each other while challenging themselves and enjoy a beautiful day outside."

"The 10th grade went to Frerich's Farm in Warren, RI. They use a portion of their farm to grow food that is donated to local food pantries. We helped harvest tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants and also did a tremendous amount of weeding. While we were there we were photographed for the front page of the ProJo. Then we went to Colt State Park and has a cookout while kids frolicked in the grass with frisbees, kites, and soccer balls. Overall, everyone had a great time."

"The 11th grade spent the morning rock climbing at the Rock Spot climbing gym. In the afternoon we had a picnic lunch at Lincoln Woods and enjoyed some unstructured time to walk in the woods, hang around or play frisbee."

"The 12th grade went to The Forks, Maine to enjoy a terrific whitewater rafting adventure on the Kennebec River. The class spent two days traveling up and back to the CrabApple campus, where we bonded over such activities as swimming, hot tubbing, volleyball, billiards, hiking to a gorgeous waterfall, and of course, braving class 3, 4, and 5 level rapids!"
